How raising cybesecurity awareness significantly reduces risk at your organization

As the world becomes increasingly digitized, the risk of cyber attacks grows more and more real for organizations of all sizes. A recent study by IBM found that the average cost of a data breach is now $4.35 million. And while no company is immune to the threat of cybercrime, there are steps that businesses can take to reduce their risk.

One of the most important things businesses can do to reduce their risk of a cyber attack is to raise cybersecurity awareness among their employees. Too often, employees are the weakest link in an organization’s cybersecurity defenses. They may click on phishing emails, reuse passwords, or neglect to update their software. By raising cybersecurity awareness and educating employees on best practices, organizations can significantly reduce their risk of a successful cyber attack.

There are a number of ways to raise cybersecurity awareness among employees. Organizations can provide training on cybersecurity topics, distribute educational materials, or host awareness-raising events. It’s also important to make cybersecurity a part of everyday work life, rather than something that’s only discussed when an incident occurs. For example, organizations can start weekly or monthly cybersecurity newsletters, or designate a “cybersecurity champion” who can help promote best practices throughout the company.

Raising cybersecurity awareness among employees can be a challenge, but it’s a necessary step to reduce the risk of a successful cyber attack. By taking the time to educate employees on best practices and making cybersecurity a part of everyday work life, organizations can significantly reduce their risk and protect their most important asset: their data.
